Tribulus terrestris is a plant that grows in tropical and moderate areas of the world. Many different cultures have used it for a number of conditions including impotence. The Greeks used Tribulus terrestris as a diuretic and a mood-enhancer. The Indians and the Chinese used it as a diuretic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory and it was recognized for its rejuvenating and aphrodisiac actions. The Chinese also used it to treat conditions affecting the liver and kidney as well as the cardiovascular and immune systems.

Tribulus Terrestris is a very unique and potent natural herb. Tribulus supports an anabolic condition by enhancing testosterone, spermatogenesis, LH (lutenizing hormone), FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone), and libido. Tribulus increase the production of lutenizing hormone which lead to increased testosterone level.

Tribulus Terrestris is reputed to support increased production of seminal fluid, not only by volume but by sperm count, at the same time supporting increased sexual performance in both men and women. Tribulus Terrestris works synergistically to stimulate male sexual prowess through a non hormonal pathway, by supporting the body’s own hormonal feedback system, and may also assist in improved athletic performance.

Tribulus Terrestris Fruit

The fruit of puncture vine or caltrop, Tribulus terrestris (Family Zygophyllaceae), is this structure with ten sharp points, capable, when mature and very hard, of puncturing a tire or a foot. There are also shorter emergences elsewhere on the fruit. At maturity, the fruit is dry and split into five segments, called nutlets. The armature on this fruit is an adaptation also for dispersal, when a segment becomes lodged in fur.

ANTI-AGING:

Tribulus Terrestris is a proven herbal remedy for depression, as Harmine, the main active ingredient of the plant, is a very effective mono-amine-oxidase-inhibitor (MAOI). Many antidepressants used in conventional medicine are MAOIs, which work by gradually increasing levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Research carried out in 2000 found that harmine may help to prevent brain cells from oxidative damage, thus Tribulus could be useful in treating a variety of brain disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease. High dopamine levels in men are known to stimulate the pituitary gland to release lutenizing hormones, which leads to an increase in testosterone levels.
