Travel to Austria
Austria (German: Österreich, literally “the Eastern Realm” or “Eastern Empire”) is a land-locked alpine country in Central Europe bordering Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west, Germany and Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east and Slovenia and Italy to the south. Austria, along with neighboring Switzerland, is the winter sports capital of Europe. However, it is just as popular for summer tourists who visit its historic cities and villages and hike in the magnificent scenery of the alps.Austria flaunts its heritage in exuberant fashion. Vienna’s bombastic Habsburg palaces and Salzburg’s baroque splendour are great, but dig deeper and you’ll unearth Stone Age settlements, Roman ruins and vibrant medieval festivals. You barely need to look for culture here - it waltzes right up to you.
In the winter we feature some great Advent, Christmas and New Year packages to all the main cities in Austria and to its Eastern European neighbours, Prague and Bratislava in the Czech & Slovak Republics and of course Budapest in Hungary. Our carefully selected country hotels, in the Tyrol and other regions for the winter season, include some sumptuous services including our new Spa & Relax holidays.
TourMyCountry.com has a different approach. It was set up by Benedikt Mandl, who is Austrian himself, in an attempt to provide information of two kinds: Of the general travel information, telling you about the history, local traditions and different aspects of today’s life in Austria, as well as direct sightseeing information on Austria’s many attractions, from Tyrol in the West to Vienna in the East. This is done similarly to the way conventional guide books would do it.The imperial past of the land is reflected in its rich cultural heritage. When you travel Austria, you’ll find that numerous museums, galleries and libraries boast world-renowned collections of masterpieces belonging to different periods of art in Austria and the buildings themselves are often splendid samples of most important styles in architecture of Austria.
